Pass the envelope: Summer's nearly over and it's time to dish out some awards.
Holy shit.
Did we make it?
Are we OK?
Did we survive?
Is it over?
After three years of Covid- and weather-affected concert cancellations, we’ve just come out the other end of a stacked, slammed and supersized summer of music.
These past five months have been out-the-box crazy, a constant churn of concerts and festivals mashing together into one big blur. By my reckoning, you could have spent nearly 80% of the days between November and March watching live music.
That’s insane. We may never have it so good again. So, before we chuck on some slow cooker meals, break out the box set TV binges, wrap up in giant hoodies and hunker down for winter, we should pay tribute to what’s just been.
It is awards season after all, and for music lovers, the past five months really have been special. Mostly.
