"Cold Chisel, Everclear, Bic Runga and Icehouse" - this is a bonkers lineup. Are the Summer Tour people pulling names out of a hat at random?! PS Seinfeld review at RNZ is great, nice one. PPS buying back issues of Newzician asap.
It's crazy eh. They're definitely in the nostalgia-boomer market, but there always seems to be one 90s grunge-related act. Couple years ago it was Stone Temple Pilots!
To be honest, I might actually go along to one of these though. I had fomo back in 1996 about an Everclear show (I had their album Sparkle & Fade on cassette), and Icehouse are one of the better synth-prog groups of the 80s (their track "Crazy" is a favourite).
Yeah, I mean, they're sit down shows, the audience is very much 40-60-year-olds. They'll sell more wine than beer. It's very much that kind of vibe, and they know their audience. It's a clever summer schedule. I bet for a lot of people that'll be their one big show.
