RE: Oasis (and all the rest), to what degree do we think that the cost of artists (mentioned by the Bay Dreams guys) is part of the issue here? We talk about these artists skipping past NZ; is the issue that promoters simply won't take a punt on them due to cost?
It's partly that but also economics for the touring artists: they can make more money doing their own shows. Those stand alone shows are more popular, they can do more of them, and they make more money - especially in a stadium.
The Kendrick Lamar case is especially interesting: in 2022 he had to cancel a second Spark Arena show. Now, after winning the Drake feud, he's too big for bay dreams, too big for Spark, and is planning a stadium tour. (He probably won't come here either sniff).
I'm just quite hands-off of anything that certain "Rotorua Entertainers" may be involved in.
