I saw Mars Volta there in around 2008 I think. Band was great but the sound was rubbish which was not ideal for a many-instrumented band like that. The sound at St James is always amazing though.
I was at that show too - I remember Cedric wrapping the mic cord around his neck and being worried he was going to strangle himself... I wish more than ever right now that the St James was back in action...
Yep. Best gig I ever went to there was Billy Corgan. Loudest concert ever too lol. At the end, Billy came down to the front of the crowd meet & greet and one dude jumped out of one of those private side balconies to rush up and shake Billy's hand

Billy Corgan solo? What did he play that was so loud? Most of his solo material is pretty acoustic and gentle...
It was his "The Future Embrace" album tour. NiN-esque beats with his reverbed distored guitar piercing over the top.
