My brain won't do it eh. I've had answers ranging from 42,242 (bigger than most Big Day Outs but not bigger than the biggest Big Day Out) to 47,250 (bigger than any Big Day Out).
Some classic album covers in that lot...surprised Smell the glove got mentioned in relation to Metallica but not Ted Nugent (did Nugent inspire Tap?)...also surprised no stones covers in the list, I like them but some real stinkers in their catalogue in between the Warhol classics like love you live. Undercover? Tattoo you? Bridges you Babylon?
But for something more recent, I completely loathe dry cleaning "stumpwork"....bar of soap with pubes.....and the Medusa on sufjan Stevens' beginner's mind
I wish for the Crash Test Dummies to do well. I saw them back in the day at a venue the size of maybe Galatos, and there was me and 14 other people in the crowd. :( It was a good show but they were visibly bummed out, and I've thought of them often, since.
Oh yeah, the one I went to was in Cologne, Germany, back in the hey day - but they really must've overestimated their pulling power - quite heart-breaking.
Oh lol, yeah it's always gutting when a band doesn't quite get the audience they deserve. I remember seeing a Fall Out Boy show at Spark Arena with only a few hundred people there and that was before they could move the stage up. It looked very silly, especially considering as they're quite a tiny band.
"Canadian alternative folk-rockers, CRASH TEST DUMMIES, play NZ for the First Time Ever for the God Shuffled His Feet 30th Anniversary World Tour playing the album (“Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm”, “Afternoons & Coffeespoons”, “Swimming in Your Ocean”) alongside fan favourites “Superman’s Song” and “The Ballad of Peter Pumpkinhead” and more!"
Yeah thanks Chris - this is my thinking:
65% of the 35000 each day are the same people, which means 35% each day are new.
So (35,000 x 0.65) + 2(35,000 x 0.35) = 47250
Yeah that makes sense to me - so def bigger than the big day out!
But over two days, so how do you factor that in...

Some absolute 'wtf-were-they-thinking' madness in there eh?
Locally speaking, Shihad have some terrible album covers too. (Sorry Jon).

Oh here's the review from 2009: https://www.nzherald.co.nz/entertainment/igig-reviewi-fall-out-boy-all-talk-and-no-action/5NKAX6BHG7DVYRS6LPWFSJQB5M/
"Fall Out Boy have the dubious honour of drawing possibly the smallest crowd Vector Arena has seen in its two-year life."
Oh man, at Vector, that would be awkward!
Can't always win, I suppose! Poor band.
Are you sure? They're billing this as the band's first ever show in Aotearoa?!?

the answer to your maths question is 42,424 - so not bigger than BDO
I’m getting some people saying 47,250?!?
Hahahah what
I got
2x(0.65 of total ticketholders) + 0.35 of total ticketholders = 70,000
70,000/1.65 = 42424.242424
Here's the maths someone emailed me...
(35,000 x 0.65) + 2(35,000 x 0.35)
And this is from a programmer who says they're "more of a theoretician ... I don't do actual arithmetic".
35,000 tickets sold *each* day assuming both days sell out.
65% are weekend passes.
65% of 35,000 = 0.65 * 35000 = 22750 weekend passes sold.
which means 35000 - 22750 = 12250 single tickets sold each day.
(check: 65% weekend, 100-65 = 35% single tix, 35000 * 0.35 = 12250)
day 1 sells out: 35,000 tickets made up of 22750 weekenders and 12250 singles
day 2 sells out: 35,000 tickets made up of the same 22750 weekenders and another 12250 singles
total: 35,000 + 12250 = 47250
(check: 35% extra single tix on day 2 means overall capacity is 135%, 1.35 * 35000 = 47250)
this is assuming we're counting distinct bodies,
and the no-one buys two single tickets instead of a weekend pass...
Hmm I didn’t take it to mean 65% of the 35,000 per day were 2 day holders… crackup
