I am an adult swiftie coming in from the McCartney connection eg the rolling stone story. She’s all good and I went to her gig in Australia. It just struck me the new album has quite a lot of swearing in it compared to the others, which is interesting as she’s not a rapper or so on. I think she’s an artist more suited to adults rather than under 5s who made up some of the audience in Sydney. She also has sexually themed lyrics, so if I was a conservative parent - I’d hesitate allowing kids to listen to some of her stuff.
I noticed this too! My daughter knows exactly which songs they’re in already. Should I censor them? There’s a clean version on streaming, but her vinyl is not…
It’s definitely up to you! But maybe. I guess it just depends what your family wants to do. Taylor isn’t releasing stuff like Eminem’s Marshall Mathers LP etc etc. I notice less of the profane stuff in his later material but that era from ages ago was interesting in terms of killing his former wife, mother and keeping Dr Dre in the basement 🙂. Taylor isn’t him or any other rapper,
Ha yeah interesting comparison - I’m not too worried. And I don’t think this will be even close to her favourite Taytay album. Will see how it plays out…
Love a good album release listening party. Good on you for taking your daughter and her friends :)
So why didn't I see you there, Chris?
:)
My daughter isn't a fan yet :)
I'll catch the next one, I'm sure hahahaha
It’s gonna get ya, there’s no escaping her clutches…
This is fascinating. Swift obviously occupies the space Justin Bieber took up for my daughter at that age.
Has this ever happened to a female artist before?
Madonna - worldwide
Kylie Minogue - uk, nz, Australia where we watched neighbours in the 80s and 90s
Britney - worldwide
Pink / who is still a standout in the pop world round the world
I forgot Miley Cyrus who is stronger than ever. I like all of the above … apart from Britney.
There's Gaga and her fans too. Madonna was probably the biggest of these.
Gaga is cool
