The St James situation grinds my gears. It should have been up and open by now. Auckland desperately needs this venue cos at the moment we are missing that mid-size/bigger than the Powerstation smaller than Spark Arena venue. Not to mention that part of Queen Street needs love.

Ever since Logan Campbell shut down it’s been pretty obvious we need a 2000-person standing venue eh? Spark Arena in theatre mode sucks. Would love to see live music there again - some of my fave shows happened there: The Strokes, De La Soul, DJ Shadow…

I very much do want my ratepayer money spent on this project, I don’t understand how it’s still a question. Fix it so we can use and enjoy this really incredible venue.

Me too! Imagine being able to go to regular shows there again... some of my faves happened there. MAKE. IT. HAPPEN.

Agree with everything here… except the fact that Mt Smart…sorry, Go Media, having the best drinks range. Full disclosure, I’m a Hood resident and big fan of Eden Park and what it’s achieved against many odds. I hate trecking out to through the industrial wasteland to Mount Smart and haven’t had good experiences there for many years . That said all I wanted to pick up on was the drinks thing because, at least for major sports events there’s actually a really good range of both drinks, including cocktails!, and food options, everything from Indian food trucks to weiners to paua fritters to the Eden Park staple fare.

I’m rarely forced to drink Heineken or Steinlager when I’ve been there in the last few years and sometimes look forward to purchasing an afterwork meal there pre game. And, of course there a a plethora of great dining and drinking options within about 10 minutes walk of Eden Park, unlike Mount Smart…

My experience anyway.

Appreciate that Steve! I was basing that comment on my Coldplay experience when they had … warm Heineken. That was it. Nothing else. Pearl Jam had 2.5% Sawmill Pale Ales and as a driver that made me pretty happy. But I agree Eden Park’s location is unbeatable!

Def a Coldplay thing then. When the AB’s play it’s for sure a Steinie-heavy selection 😆
