Oh and Mark Leishman was there?!?

It was the greatest crowd - friendly but amped. Very different to the Fred Again experience…

I went on Monday. But the sound was muddy (just like the Stuff review said about Saturday). Why was it so expensive too? I go to many of the gigs in Spark or even huge like Eden Park (rock, pop, hip-hop, metal etc) - this was $250! Good visuals, but her singing was buried under the music. It’s not a hip-hop or r n b thing at Spark - Lizzo was clear as day vocally as was the rapper guy NF - both at Spark.

As for the cost of it, I've got a story coming later today :)

She wasn’t drowned out by the fans I felt when I went - the vocals were under the music!

So I took earplugs and used them - that drowned out both the crowd and the bad sound mix, so it wasn't an issue for me. But my wife didn't have earplugs and she struggled with it too.

I've found R&B shows at Spark often have the worst sound mixes. Anderson Paak was borderline unlistenable. There's something about that venue and sound engineers who haven't used it before that makes them just max everything out.

Thanks, for more info on sound at Spark! I’ll check out both the story above and the next one coming 👍

I thought for the second and third show they would have sorted it out. I’m sorry that didn’t happen for you! But seriously - a $30 set of small properly designed earplugs are worth investing in. Not for using at every show, just for shows like that.
